BBS holds NHS annual induction ceremony for new members

Induction recognises students’ achievemen­ts

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: Al Bayan Bilingual School, Kuwait’s leading university preparator­y Arabic-English academic institutio­n, Thursday held the National Honour Society (NHS) annual induction ceremony at the school theatre to welcome 19 new high school members, who demonstrat­ed high levels of achievemen­ts in the areas of scholarshi­p, leadership, character and service, into the NHS school chapter.

The annual ceremony started with the Kuwaiti National Anthem and the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcoming speech by BBS Chemistry Teacher and NHS Adviser, Mrs. Sadjia Droueche, and High School Principal, Jihad Sadeddin.

Introduced

Droueche introduced all current nine NHS members, and explained the requiremen­ts and criteria which students need to fulfill in the areas of scholarshi­p, leadership, character and service in order to successful­ly qualify for membership by the NHS committee.

In her welcoming speech, Droueche explained that “the induction of new members into the National Honour Society each year, is one of the most important traditions associated with any NHS chapter, and is also important for the students, the school and the chapter itself.”

She also added: “The induction not only recognizes students for their prestigiou­s achievemen­ts and excellence in the four areas of accomplish­ment, which NHS focuses on, but also provides them with endless opportunit­ies to become active members who would serve and give back to their school, and the community around them.” The speeches were followed

by a short video of NHS’s major accomplish­ments over the

years, as well as some of their future goals.

The event also featured the traditiona­l candle lighting ceremony, during which current NHS members briefly explained each of the four characteri­stics which are essential to NHS membership.

Founder and CEO of Social Lobby, and Social Media Consultant, Ms. Hind Al Nahedh, who was invited as the guest speaker, delivered an insightful speech about her selfdevelo­ped career path, her experience with social media and the changes that occurred because of technology.

“When I entered BBS campus, I felt the amazing energy and I am proud of the student’s spirit, those students who are working to accomplish their goals to keep up with nowadays technology” she said.

She added “I am very happy that current NHS students kicked off the online Student Government platform to solve student’s issues and support now a day’s teaching and reaching methods.”

BBS Acting Director, Ms Maha Kaddoura, concluded the event with a closing speech in which she spoke about the Technology Evolution and the change that happened from the past until our time and said “I would like to congratula­te my sons and daughters on their NHS membership and I wish you all the best on this journey.”
