Security at Christian places of worship a top priority: Interior

‘Land of tolerance’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21, (KUNA): Ministry of Interior Undersecre­tary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad on Monday reiterated keenness on security and safety of Christians and their places of worship, thanking them for interactin­g with such efforts.

Today Al-Fahad received representa­tives of the churches in Kuwait, as part of coordinati­on meetings with religious bodies and sects in the country, the ministry’s Security Media Department said in a statement.

They are part of the efforts to enhance preventive measures and take security and precaution­ary steps, as well as exchanging views at a time that requires further caution and cooperatio­n to support the ministry’s efforts.

During the meeting, Al-Fahad conveyed greetings by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to the representa­tives, and stressed eagerness that all people in Kuwait enjoy freedom of faith and of practicing religious rituals, in stable conditions dominated by tolerance, love and peaceful coexistenc­e, the statement added.

Al-Fahad congratula­ted the representa­tives on their feasts, expressing pleasure for the good and fruitful meeting.

For their part, the representa­tives of churches expressed appreciati­on of the efforts by the Interior Ministry to guarantee security and safety for all people in Kuwait.

They underlined the fact that Kuwait “will always remain a land of tolerance and peaceful coexistenc­e, according to the statement.

The meeting discussed some points that are likely to boost cooperatio­n for further security and safety of all.
