‘Wild parties’ tents will be uprooted: ministry

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior Major-General Abdul Hamid Al-Awadhi, Director-General of the General Department of Criminal Investigations Major-General Mahmoud Al-Tabbakh and detectives have arrested an unidentified Canadian for planting marijuana inside his home, says a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior.
This comes within efforts exerted by the criminal security sector to eliminate crimes of all kinds and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The reports said the security authorities acting on information raided the residence of the Canadian and seized 39 marijuana seedlings, a kilo of the drug ready for sale and seeds for planting.
Securitymen also arrested a Kuwaiti in possession of 8 seedlings and halfa-kilo of the drug ready for sale and seeds for planting and fertilizers and an unlicensed gun.
During interrogation the Kuwaiti said he got the seedlings from the Canadian and instructions how to plant marijuana.
The suspects and the contraband have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control.
According to Al Awadhi the Canadian is known to be one of the most dangerous drug dealers and his arrest can deliver a painful blow to traffickers and users of marijuana in Kuwait.
No ‘wild parties’:
The criminal security sector of the Ministry of Interior said the ministry in cooperation with other security sectors and the Kuwait Municipality will enforce a law by the end of this year and early next to demolish camping areas if it is proved these camps are used for holding illegal midnight parties involving both sexes, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to a security source, the Ministry of the Interior will deploy field patrols along various roads and also major hotels and restaurants where parties and concerts are held with permission from the authorities to ensure safety of all and also some apartments where the parties may be held to prevent immoral activities.
The source noted all campaigns will be held after midnight and if anyone found in an abnormal condition will be referred to the concerned authorities.
The source said the law will be strictly applied on all without discrimination and people caught in suspicious places or in abnormal condition will be prone to deportation. Marijuana pots, various paraphernalia used to grow marijuana leaves under suitable conditions indoors seized by
the CID officers.
