MoE okays enrolment of expat doctors’ kids in public schools
Plan to set up school for those implanting cochlea
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: The Ministry of Education has approved the proposal to allow the children of expatriate doctors working in public hospitals, clinic and medical centers to enroll in public schools starting from the next academic year, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
Sources disclosed the ministry also announced the exemption of the following categories of doctors – general practitioner, general practitioner A and general practitioner B – who registered their children in schools under its jurisdiction.
Sources said the ministry will determine the educational districts where these children will enroll irrespective of their residential addresses in order to balance the population of students. Sources added the ministry will limit the number of such students to 250.
In another development, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa has unveiled a plan to establish a school for those implanting cochlea, in cooperation with the Child Evaluation Center and Secretariat General for Awqaf. He said the school will be located in AlSawaber and it will accept students starting from academic year 2016/2017.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education will amend the payment of allowances for social workers and those employed in the field of Psychology in accordance with Civil Service Commission (CSC) decision numbers 14 & 15, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs Fahad Al-Ghais.
Al-Ghais explained this step is aimed at serving the interests of the workers, particularly in terms of increasing their financial benefits. He disclosed the Administrative Affairs Sector has started looking into allowances within the complementary systems of the CSC. He said the first step is to cancel some allowances and then introduce new ones, while calling on the concerned employees to fully cooperate with the ministry to ascertain their salary details within two weeks.
