KDT removes wreck, wastes

KUWAIT CITY, March 27, (KUNA): Kuwait Dive Team of the Environmental Voluntary Foundation succeeded Sunday in the removal of three tons of shipwrecks, two tons of fishing nets and wastes from (Niqaat Al-Shamlan) waters close to Souq Sharq.

The team was able to lift the sinking boats by using lifting belts and crane from the Kuwait Municipality as well as water suction pumps in order to remove them without damage, the team’s marine operations’ officer Waleed Al-Shatti told KUNA.

These wrecks and waste from boats and fishing vessels affect the fish stocks in Kuwait and harm the marine environment, he said.
