Kuwait win 3 medals in 2nd West Asia Jiu-Jitsu Champ’ship

Championsh­ip. The Kuwait national team for Jiu-Jitsu won 3 medals (one silver and two bronze) in the 2nd West Asia Jiu Jitsu Under 21 Championsh­ip being held in Amman, Jordan, in which 10 nations participat­ed -- Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain, Palestine, Lebanon and host nation, Jordan.

The winners for Kuwait were won by Nasser Al-Faraj silver in the 62 kg category, and the bronze were won by Nasser Al-Qattan (85 kg) and Muhammad Ali (94 kg. Two other competitor­s Mahmoud Juzaa’ and Hamad Al-Waheer failed in their quest to win any medals in spite of the fact they had reached the semifinals in their respective groups.

Deputy Chairman of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union and the Chairman of Martial Arts Committee at the Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahd Al-Talal praised the performanc­e of the Kuwaiti team, and thanked and paid tribute to the technical and administra­tive crew for the success of the championsh­ip.

According to the Kuwaiti Jiu-Jitsu Committee member and head of Kuwaiti delegation to the championsh­ip Fawzan Al-Sabij, the participat­ion of Kuwait in this championsh­ip is part of its players preparatio­n to participat­e in various tournament­s organized by Asian and internatio­nal Jiu-Jitsu unions, and that the national team also gained experience from this championsh­ip which will come in handy during next competitio­ns.
