Car wash charges to hike:

Car wash companies are planning to increase the car washing charges due to the recent decision of the Cabinet to increase the costs of electricity and water, reports Al-Rai daily.

The owners of car wash companies revealed that the costs of car washing currently range from KD 2.5 to KD 30 but are expected to increase by double in the range of KD 5 to KD 60.

Abu Ahmad, a manager of some car wash centers, affirmed that the charges will be doubled such that the new prices will start from KD 5 and reach up to KD 60.

He explained that the reason behind this increase in prices is the increased costs of water and electricity, both of which are essential for the washing process. The Cabinet’s decision to increase the electricity and water prices will reduce the number of manual car wash centers.

However, while many clients may end up washing their cars in front of their houses, which will lead to wastage of water, washing their vehicles in the car wash centers will cost them more money.

Alaa Abu Adam said the new prices are in line with the new costs of water and electricity, explaining that the car wash centers depend on the pressure of the water and not on the quantity of water.

He affirmed that the increase in the cost of the service is justified.
