‘Offending’ Kuwaiti arrested on arrival

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: The State Security police have arrested and referred for investigat­ion a Kuwaiti, identified as Salem Al-Dousari a.k.a. Abu Refa’a for allegedly issuing offensive statements against the ruler of the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the Al-Dousari was whisked away for interrogat­ion when he arrived at the Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport from London.

Meanwhile, Mohamed (the brother of Abu Refa’a) has appealed to the political leadership to ‘forgive’ his brother given his health and physical condition based on medical reports.

However, according to the Al-Qabas daily the Ministry of Interior in its statement said the suspect is accused of posting videos and issuing

statements on the social media criticizin­g the Amir and the rulers of the GCC countries.

He is also said to have incited citizens to disobey orders and fomented religious intoleranc­e.

He has been handed over to the Public Prosecutio­n.
