Thousands lag behind classmates:

-

Around 37,000 students in various academic levels in public schools have been found to be lagging behind their classmates, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting results of a recent statistical study on the performance of students.

The study revealed that social researchers looked into 93,000 problems encountered by the students last year while it warned against the dire consequences if those who lag behind their classmates continue to do so; hence, the need to address the issue quickly.

Researchers who conducted the study said this is the number one problem among students in public schools. Results of the study showed that girls constitute 60 percent of the students lagging behind their peers – 21,803 girls compared to 15,122 boys.
