South Africa to name new coach on April 12

CAPE TOWN, April 1, (Agencies): The South African Ruby Union (SARU) will announce the new Springbok head coach on April 12 and Allister Coetzee is strong favourite to get the job, South African media reported.

SARU president Oregan Hoskins confirmed on Friday that the organisati­on’s General Council had approved a candidate, without revealing his identity, and the ruling body will now complete the process of contractin­g the coach and his management team.

“We are happy to have reached this point and are particular­ly excited with our final choice,” Hoskins said in a statement.

“Today’s ratificati­on triggers the final part of the process. We’re looking forward to being able to confirm our choice publicly.” World Cup in England last year.

Hurricanes centre Willis Halaholo is to join Cardiff in time for the start of the 2016/17 European season, the Celtic League side announced Friday.

The Welsh club said the uncapped 25-year-old Auckland-born midfielder would arrive at the Arms Park after representi­ng Waikato in New Zealand’s NPC competitio­n later this year.

Halaholo was first selected by the Hurricanes last season, after impressing in the lower level ITM Cup with Southland and featured in recent Super Rugby wins over the Western Force and Southern Kings.

“Willis is a player we have been aware of for some time and who is really showing his ability and having a strong Super Rugby season with the Hurricanes,” said Cardiff coach Danny Wilson.

“Alongside the likes of Rey Lee-Lo and Matthew Morgan, he will add even more attacking threat to our game.”
