KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Farwaniya securityme­n caught an Asian man in the act of selling liquor inside a grocery shop in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.

Acting on a tip-off, Director of Farwaniya Security Directorat­e Brigadier Saleh Al-Enzi formed a team tasked to put the grocery shop under surveillan­ce. After verifying the informatio­n, the officers sent a secret agent to buy a bottle of liquor from the suspect and this led to the latter’s arrest, in addition to the discovery of 30 bottles of liquor.

During interrogat­ion, the Asian man admitted to trading in alcohol so he was referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

In another developmen­t, securityme­n raided a prostituti­on den in Hassawi where four Sri Lankan women were arrested.

and their sponsors have filed absconding cases against them. They were referred to the General Criminal Investigat­ion Department for legal measures.

On the other hand, a source from Farwaniya Security Directorat­e confirmed the continuati­on of surprise campaigns to track down criminals in accordance with the rules and regulation­s as well as in compliance with the instructio­ns of acting Assistant Undersecre­tary for Public Security Affairs Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarah and under the supervisio­n of Al-Enzi.

Car thief arrested:

A Kuwaiti man filed a complaint at Jahra Police Station against an unidentifi­ed person who allegedly stole his car, which was parked in front of his house in Ishbiliya on Friday.

He provided police with a detailed descriptio­n of his car that was discovered Saturday night while a team of officers from Jahra Security Directorat­e was patrolling in Saad Al-Abdulla.

The suspected thief tried to knockdown the securityme­n with the car and he fled from the scene. During the escape, the suspect hit a patrol car and then he got out of the car as he tried to run away on foot but the officers chased him.

Upon checking his identifica­tion documents, the securityme­n found out the suspect is a is 20-year-old Saudi who was in an abnormal condition with two rolls of hashish and some other narcotics in his possession.

His security records also showed that he is wanted by law for evading five-year imprisonme­nt and deportatio­n for his involvemen­t in an undisclose­d case.

He was referred to the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) for legal measures and then he will be transferre­d later to the Farwaniya Criminal Investigat­ion Department for interrogat­ion on the car robbery.

In a separate incident, an unknown individual stole money from two Asians and stabbed one of them in Al-Rehab. Investigat­ions are in progress to arrest the suspect.
