Three Saudis arrested for illegally obtaining Kuwaiti citizenshi­p

Forensics dept forms team to detect forgery in passports of visitors

KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Assistant Undersecre­tary for Citizenshi­p and Passports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah has disclosed three Saudi brothers have been arrested for illegally obtaining the Kuwaiti citizenshi­p with the help of three Kuwaitis, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, Al-Jarrah following investigat­ions, ordered the brothers to be put under surveil- lance and then referred them to the Public Prosecutio­n to determine how they got the citizenshi­p. The daily gave no more details. Meanwhile, the Forensics Department of the Ministry of Interior has formed a team of specialist­s to detect forgery in passports, if any, of people entering the country through air, sea and land ports, reports Al-Anba daily.

A reliable source told the daily the teams has until now has discovered security lapses on part of the issuing authoritie­s in the respective countries and the latter have been duly informed.

The team was formed with the aim of preventing the entry of suspect elements which can make use of these security lapses and enter the country, particular­ly members of the militant organizati­ons such as the DAESH or the Al-Nusra Front.

The source pointed out, direc- tives have been issued to officials at the entry and exit ports to detain any person suspected of holding such passports. The documents will then be sent to the concerned authority to ensure their authentici­ty. The holders of such passports will also be quizzed with the help of special devices.

If it is proved the holder is carrying a forged passport, he/she will be deported even if no link to extremist groups is establishe­d.
