Ramadan June 6 ... Terror report denied

The lunar month of Ramadan will begin on Monday, June 6, Meteorolog­ist Adel Al-Saadoun told KUNA Sunday.

The lunar calendar is the reference Muslims use for marking religious occasions and seasons, and the Holy month of Ramadan is the ninth month, and is a month of fasting from Sunrise till Sunset with more prayers and acts of worship also observed.

The start of Ramadan is not announced according to astrologic­al calculatio­ns alone, but testimony of sighting the crescent by two men or a man and two women are required for the call for fast.

Ministry of Interior dismissed reports

published in a local newspaper that the terrorist group of Hezbollah and Iraq’s Popular Mobilizati­on were to commit terrorist acts during the Holy month of Ramadan.

Reports regarding this matter were absolutely incorrect, said the ministry’s media department in a press statement on Sunday.

It stressed that security bodies are carrying out its full duties and taking all precaution­ary measures aiming to maintain the country’s security, and the safety of citizens and residents.

The statement called on people not to get carried away with false informatio­n.

It affirmed that the ministry is keen on updating the public with all developmen­ts pertaining to security.
