‘African Day’ to be held today
Acting Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Dean of Arab and African Diplomats and Ambassador of Somalia in Kuwait Abdulqadir Amin Sheikh Abubakar and 20 other African ambassadors and Charge d’Affaires Monday organized a press conference to announce the African Day, which will be held on May 25.
The African Day is an annual event aimed to commemorate the establishment of the Organization of African Union, which was founded for emancipation of people of the continent from the grip of colonial masters. It later transformed into the African Union.
The slogan for this year’s event is ‘Africa is a promising country for peace, security and development’.
