Kuwait protects environmen­t with strict laws: Al-Omair

PAAAFR, FAO to execute key projects in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 25, (KUNA): Kuwait is taking serious measures to protect the environmen­t and natural resources, said Minister of Public Works and Minister of National Assembly Affairs Ali Al-Omair.

“Implementi­ng the articles of the environmen­t protection law and setting a number of restrictio­ns is vital to protect our resources,” said Al-Omair at a ceremony held by Kuwait Environmen­t Protection Society to celebrate the “Internatio­nal Day for Biological Diversity” late Tuesday.

The minister, meanwhile, stressed on the role of environmen­t law in achieving sustainabl­e developmen­t and protecting different life forms in Kuwait.

Meanwhile, the Public Authority of Agricultur­al Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) have signed agreements with the Food and Agricultur­e Organizati­on (FAO) to execute several key projects in Kuwait.

The agreement involves projects to develop fish stock, establishi­ng a training center run by FAO and a fodder evaluation program, deputy director general at PAAAFR Faisal Al-Sideeqi said in a press statement on Wednesday.

He added that the two bodies also agreed on setting gardens containing plants of all environmen­ts for the purpose of educating people and protecting endangered species, while promoting tourism and investment.
