Kuwaiti FM arrives in Moscow for fourth Gulf-Russia meeting

Seeks to boost ties: official

MOSCOW, May 25, (KUNA): First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Hamad Al-Sabah arrived in Moscow Wednesday, heading a Kuwaiti delegation to the fourth meeting of GCCRussian strategic dialogue due on Thursday.

Upon arrival, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled was received by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Russia Abdulaziz Al-Adwani and other diplomats.

Moreover, Assistant Foreign Minister of the First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister’s office Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Assistant Foreign Minister for Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (GCC) Affairs Ambassador Nasser Haji Al-Mezyen, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Dr. Rashid Al-Adwani and other senior foreign ministry officials.

Meanwhile, spokespers­on for the Russian foreign ministry Maria Zakharova noted that Moscow strives to bolster bilateral ties with GCC nations, adding that doing so would increase Russian presence in the Middle East and North Africa.

In addition, Zakharova also said that cooperatio­n is needed between Russia and the GCC to stave off terrorism and overcome other obstacles, adding that the meeting would also tackle ways to enhance commercial and economic bilateral ties.

Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain will partake in the meeting, in addition to the Secretary General of the GCC.
