Tunisia, Kuwait to co-op on ‘social development’
Al-Sabeeh to sign MoU
TUNIS, May 25, (KUNA): Tunisia is working with Kuwait on promoting a solid cooperation on social development while a relevant memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed later this month, Minister of Social Affairs Mahmoud bin Ramadhan said.
Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and Minister of State for Development and Planning Hind AlSabeeh will be visiting Tunisia on May 26-27 to sign the MoU, Bin Ramadhan said in a statement to KUNA on Wednesday.
He said they would hold talks on ways of promoting cooperation in social development, helping people with special needs and poor families.
He said he was looking foward to get acquainted with the experience of Kuwait in social development and how the government was blending people with special needs in the society.
Bin Ramadhan said Tunisia could benefit from the experience of Kuwait in social development.
He added that Al-Sabeeh would visit a number of social institutions, noting that his ministry was providing monthly assistance to around 250,000 poor families every month.
The Tunisian ministry, he said, would launch a survey to determine the needs of 9,000 families. He said the assistance were not only financial but to help these families blend within the economic development process.
Chief of Kuwait’s National Security Apparatus Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah AlSalem Al-Sabah met with Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov in Grozny, Chechnya on Wednesday.
Sheikh Thamer conveyed greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahamd Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the Chechen President and people.
He also conducted negotiations with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, tackling the latest developments and issues of common interest.

Kuwait’s Ambassador to Canada Abdulhameed Al-Failakawi participated in the inauguration of Al-Rahma Mosque in Ottawa with attendance of the capital city’s mayor, Jim Watson, and ambassadors of Arab and Muslim countries.
Kuwait is the major financial contributor to the establishment of Al-Rahma Mosque which will serve a large Muslim community in Ottawa, Al-Failakawi said in a speech during the inauguration.
The funding by Kuwait, he added, was part of the country’s support of humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives in different parts of the world.
Kuwait has always called for promotion of moderation, tolerance and coexistence in multi-cultural societies, said Al-Failakawi, cited by a statement by Kuwait’s Embassy to Canada, sent to KUNA in Washington D.C.
Kuwait, he added, would continue its backing to Islamic centers which followed transparent criteria in collecting and spending of donations.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent a message of support to AlRahma Mosque, affiliated to Al-Sunna Society.
