KUWAIT CITY, May 26, (KUNA): Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa praised Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC), describing it as a pioneering experiment that supported hundreds of talented students.

On the sidelines of his sponsorship of the talented students’ excellence ceremony late Wednesday, Al-Essa expressed hope to see the opening of the talent academy, to be established by the center within the next few months, which will host more students from all educational stages.

He congratulated the outstanding students and their families, and thanked the center for its efforts in the graduation of talented students, stressing the continuing of the partnership between the Ministry of Education and SACGC, which lasted since the establishment of the center in 2010.

For his part, General Director of the SACGC Dr. Omar Al-Bannai said that Al-Ghazali school in Sawaber Area was allocated to be the first talent and creativity academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, where talented students will be accepted for the next school year.

He said that acceptance of more students from different educational stages also requires specialized preparation courses for teachers.

He added that honoring outstanding and talented students aims at encouraging them to continue with their creativity.

Civil Service Commission’s decision to reduce the working hours of pregnant employees by two hours beginning June 2016 met anger from schools of the Ministry of Education, especially as the decision has been issued at the end of academic year, reports Al Seyassah daily.

Education experts are surprised and annoyed with the new decision, which they consider a ‘big problem’ as it will hinder the teaching staff in executing duties and coordinating in any event if the majority of female counterparts have their timing reduce by two hours at the start of the working day.

Ministry sources added execution of the decision will have negative consequences if there is shortage of teachers, indicating the ministry is working to solve the problem by presenting all available options to Civil Commission Service.
