Arab media message essential in facing terrorism: official
Consolidated regional and int’l efforts urged to counter terror
CAIRO, May 26, (KUNA): Promoting a unified Arab media message is very important in confronting ongoing challenges and threats facing the Arab countries and their citizens, particularly terrorism, an official said Wednesday.
Terrorism has become a global phenomenon that requires consolidation of regional and international efforts in order to counter it, Mohammad Al-Awash, President of Arab State Broadcasting Union (ASBU), stated to KUNA.
Al-Awash, of Kuwait, made his remarks in conclusion of the 47th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers in the Egyptian capital.
The Council approved organizing workshops in various areas of the Arab world, including Sudan, Morocco, and Bahrain, to setup media plans and procedures against violence and terrorism, Al-Awash said.
ASBU has held several different workshops in this regard, he said, expressing gratitude to the State of Kuwait for supporting the Palestinian media.
He also pointed out that Kuwait Minister of Information Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah’s recent visit to Ramallah, Palestine, and his support and efforts in printing the three-volume encyclopedia book on Jerusalem.
Sheikh Salman’s visit reiterated Kuwait’s support of Palestine, and stand alongside the Palestinian people in various fields, including private and public media.
