Trump reflects on nasty race on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’

Weeknd cancels performance

LOS ANGELES, May 26, (RTRS): Donald Trump reflected on the “nasty” race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in his appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday, but two music guests backed out of the show because they didn’t want to appear on the same episode with the presumptive GOP nominee.

Singer The Weeknd and rapper Belly backed out because of their disagreements with Trump’s views, according to the Associated Press.

“I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world, from religion to race,” Belly said in a statement to the AP. “I just didn’t want to feel like I was part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that a majority of us don’t agree with.”

A spokeswoman for the show had no comment. The other guest on the show was Gregory Porter.

In his appearance, Trump said he would debate Sanders if he would “pay a sum to charity.” Sanders tweeted late Wednesday, “Game on.”

Trump said that he has used an alias “over the years,” although he denied that the voice on a tape that was the subject of a recent Washington Post story sounded like him. “I actually used the name Barron,” Trump said, adding that it was a tactic used in the real estate business to avoid paying more money for property.

Trump also said that he “had no idea it was going to be so nasty” between Clinton and Sanders.

“And you hate that. You don’t like that,” Kimmel replied, sarcastically.

“I hate to see it,” Trump said, to laughs.

Trump also said that he is the one who comes up with the nicknames he’s given to rivals, like “Crooked Hillary” and “Crazy Bernie.”

Kimmel also suggested that Trump pick his vice-presidential nominee like “Celebrity Apprentice.” “Good idea,” Trump said.

“I would be your best vice-president,” Kimmel said, a reference to his mock campaign started earlier this month.

In a comedy bit, Kimmel read from a sequel to a mock children’s book “Winners Still Aren’t Losers.”

Kimmel also asked Trump about where he was headed to after the show — a fundraiser to raise money for a joint committee for his campaign and the Republican party.

Kimmel asked him why donors would give to a billionaire. “Do they go like, ‘Why are you asking us for money? Is it like Papa John taking up a collection for a pizza?”

“Sort of a crazy thing,” Trump replied, noting that he put in about $55 million into his campaign during the primaries.

“So now, you know, we’re going to raise about a billion dollars, for the Senate, for Congress, for everything,” he said.

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will return to host the 50th annual Country Music Awards on Nov 2. The live event will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I really enjoy hosting the CMA Awards with Brad,” said Underwood. Paisley added, “Carrie and I have certainly hit our stride in terms of balancing humor and a genuine respect for the nominees and winners.

“Dating” will return for its third season Wednesday, June 29 at 9 pm. Rocsi Diaz has been tapped to host the new season which will be shot on location in Bora Bora. Season three will follow main daters David and Natalie as they search for love on a tropical island paradise.

Nickelodeon has greenlit a 14-episode second season of its new animated series, “The Loud House.” Based on creator Chris Savino’s life growing up in a family of 10 kids, “The Loud House” follows Lincoln Loud and his 10 sisters for an inside look at what it takes to survive the chaos of growing up in a huge family. The series, which airs weekdays at 5 pm, currently ranks as the top kids animated show on TV.

The executive producers of “Game of Thrones,” David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, are used to traumatizing their viewers — but they don’t often apologize for it.

On “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night, the showrunners made an appearance to issue “a heartfelt apology” to the HBO series’ loyal fans for the events of Sunday’s episode, in which beloved character Hodor died protecting Bran Stark. Hodor’s tragic death — holding a door to keep a horde of undead Wights away — came mere moments after we learned that Bran was somehow responsible for damaging Hodor’s mind and leaving him incapable of saying anything other than “Hodor,” as a result of Bran’s ability to visit the past.
