GENEVA, May 30, (KUNA): Head of the Museum for Islamic Culture in the Swiss city of La Chaux-de-Fonds Nadia Karmous hailed Kuwait’s support to the establishment and launch of the museum.

The attendance of Kuwaiti Ambassador to Switzerland Bader Al-Taneeb to the museum’s inauguration represents his country’s support for Islamic culture around the world, she told KUNA on Monday.

“Kuwait is presenting a bright picture about moderate Islam for the western world, in a time where terrorism in the name of religion is growing”, said Karmous.

Preparation for the museum took 15 years by a specialized team from the museum sciences, Islamic history, and human culture, said the official.

She added that there were Kuwaiti and other women from the GCC region who also contributed to the project to promote a clear picture of Islam.

On his part, Al-Taneeb said that the museum aimed to bring awareness to Europeans towards the beautiful aspects of the Islamic culture, and provide knowledge on the impact of Muslim scientists on human civilization.

The museum includes a library with thousands of books on Islamic history, he said, adding that it was focusing on changing the negative idea on Islam in Europe. qqq Chairman of the Society for Protecting Public Fund Muhalhil Al-Mudhaf has criticized the government for not dealing with the aspects of public funds misuse before blocking the budget deficit generated by citizens, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He expressed the society’s objection to the project of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, which it considers to be destructive to social and voluntary activities.

He also said the Ministry of Health recorded the highest rate of public funds wastage, and cited overseas medical treatment and collection of health insurance as the two major forms of misappropriating public funds.

He revealed that some agencies have been cooperating with the society to protect public funds, among them the Public Authority for Minors Affairs, Public Authority for Anti-corruption, the Credit Bank, Ministry of Housing Affairs, and State Audit Bureau.
