Zain delivers ‘Machla Boxes’ to MoS
Firm distributes essential food supplies for Ramadan
KUWAIT CITY, May 30: As part of its preparations to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan, Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, announced the delivery of essential food supplies (Machla Boxes) to the Awareness and Guidance Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to cover the needs of underprivileged families.
Distributing (Machla boxes) is one of the main pillars of Zain’s annual Ramadan campaign, which comes in line with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability strategies and as part of its solid cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. The Ministry’s Awareness and Guidance Department Manager, Dr Ahmad Al Kous, received the food supplies from Zain, and the Ministry will ensures distributing them to cover all areas of Kuwait before the arrival of Ramadan.
Support
Zain’s distribution plan for this year involved various entities, most notably the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor’s Awareness and Guidance Department, Zakat House, and Kuwait Red Crescent Society. In addition, Zain’s own team of volunteers packed the boxes, containing essential food supplies, at the company’s main headquarters and delivered them to underprivileged families who are in need of support during the month of fasting.
Zain affirmed that its social and CSSR campaign during the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadan will include an extensive array of initiatives and programs that will focus on helping less fortunate people to enjoy Ramadan happily, as well as celebrating the true spirit the Holy month brings.
It is worth noting that Zain recently won the CSR Award as part of ‘The Cause’ initiative, organized by Gulf University for Science and Technology, for launching a number of sustainable projects all year round. In addition, Zain received the ‘Golden Shield for Excellence in Environmental Sustainability’ from the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility during the year 2015. The award recognized Zain’s efforts in launching a series of initiatives and programs conducted throughout the year, which had a deep impact among the community it operates in, especially through the contributions made towards particular institutions and entities in the community.
