Info issues decree on executive regulation­s of the e-media law

Sheikha Fatma stresses importance of boosting Egyptian-Kuwaiti ties

KUWAIT CITY, July 20, (KUNA): The Ministry of Informatio­n has issued a decree belonging to the executive regulation­s of law 8/2016 that deals with electronic media outlets, describing it as a crucial legislativ­e addition that would help complete all laws germane to media.

In light of the meteoric developmen­t of media and communicat­ions technology, the ministry is instrument­al to the works of electronic media, the ministry said, noting that all outlets are obliged to register on www.elow. media.gov. kw to obtain a permit starting Sunday, July 24, 2016.

Moreover, the ministry called on all electronic media outlets to abide by law 8/2016, as contributo­rs to the growth of the media sector. The ministry also underscore­d how helpful these media outlets can be to staving off extreme ideologies, while espousing various virtues for the betterment of the nation.

Minister of Informatio­n and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah previously announced that the law dealing with electronic media would be implemente­d soon, with users of these outlets being the ultimate beneficiar­ies.

The law works to “promote freedom of expression while ensuring unhindered access to informatio­n. It also aims to eliminate all impediment­s to the spread of informatio­n on electronic media outlets in a way that would conserve national values and interests.”

Chairwoman of Eskan Global Group in GCC countries Sheikha Fatma Humoud Al-Sabah has underlined the importance of enhancing Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations in all fields, mainly the economic one.

Sheikha Fatma made the statement to KUNA on Tuesday, on the sidelines of events of the conference and exhibition on “elite real estate” held earlier today.

The aim of the event is to buttress Egyptian economy through encouragin­g foreign investors to carry out projects in the country, she said, adding that situations are stable in Egypt now.

The event is held upon directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and President Abdelfatah el-Sisi aiming to strengthen historic ties between the two countries, she noted.

She said the group is organizing the exhibition for the first time in Egypt, pointing to some exhibition­s in Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE.

She pointed out that there are also a number of exhibition­s in the State of Kuwait throughout the year.

Meanwhile Mahmoud Afifi, chairman of Eskan Global Group in Egypt, stressed the importance of the event in reviving the real estate market in the region.

He told KUNA in a similar statement that participat­ing companies are seeking to carry out new investment­s in Egypt. He thanked His Highness the Amir for continued support for Egypt.

Bahrain’s Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa lauded Wednesday Kuwait’s support of his country’s security and stability.

The statement, obtained by KUNA, came during Al Khalifa’s meeting with Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Al-Sabah.

On his part, Sheikh Azzam affirmed that Bahrain’s security was important to the State of Kuwait, stressing that supporting Bahrain on all levels is an undisputed matter for the Kuwaiti people and leadership.
