LOS ANGELES, July 24, (Agencies): Season two of the CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” will feature the timetraveling team encountering a group from the DC superhero past — the Justice Society of America.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed during a panel at Comic-Con Saturday that Justice Society members Rex Tyler, Obsidian, Dr. Mid-Nite, Stargirl and Commander Steel.

“Arrow” star Stephen Amell will also make an appearance in the season-two premiere as Oliver Queen, the alter ego of Green Arrow.

Guggenheim and fellow EP Phil Klemmer also added that villains for the upcoming season will include John Barrowman as Malcolm Merlyn, Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk, and Matt Letscher as Eobard Thawne.

Despite the fact that Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold died in season one, the character will also be appearing season two, Guggenheim announced, noting that “Legends” is a time-travel show.

Miller and Barrowman signed deals with Warner Bros this year making them series regulars across “Legends”, “Arrow”, and “The Flash.”

“It’s going to be much more serious”, Klemmer said of how season two will be different from season one. “Season two is predicated much more on mysteries. Instead of one bad guy, their responsible” for facing multiple villains, he added.

Guggenheim also teased a possible return for Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl and Falk Hentschel as Hawkman, who were written off last season.

“We haven’t finished telling the story of the hawks yet”, Guggenheim said, adding that he was emailing with Renee and Hentschel last week. “With the right timing and the right story, we’d love to see more of Kendra and Carter.”

The CW spin on the iconic Archie comics, “Riverdale”, arrived at Comic-Con today with a screening of the pilot followed by a Q&A with cast and producers.

With this take, developed by Greg Berlanti and Roberto AguirreSacasa from the iconic “Archie” comic books, the titular town is one shrouded with mystery, murder and more than a little romance since the “Archie” characters are updated and definitely fit the CW brand of sexy.

In fact, in updating the characters, executive producer Sarah Schechter said that finding the right actor to play Archie proved to be the most difficult. “In this case we started about six months in advance because we knew how hard it was going to be to fill all these iconic shoes”, she said. “We were very worried, it’s very hard to do ‘Riverdale’ without Archie but luckily K.J. (Apa) walked in and we were, like, done.”

Variety’s “Actors on Actors” on PBS was awarded the Emmy Award for best entertainment programming at the Television Academy’s 68th Los Angeles area Emmy Awards.

This is the second win in two years for the interview series, which features pairings of prominent actors discussing their craft. “Actors on Actors” was produced by PBS SoCal in partnership with Variety Media, LLC.

Hosted by Variety’s Jenelle Riley, the 2016 edition featured such pairings as Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellan, Will Smith and Benicio del Toro and Amy Schumer and Lily Tomlin.

The winners of this year’s LA Area Emmy Awards were announced Saturday night at the TV Academy’s newly renovated Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood.

The eighth season of “The Vampire Diaries” will be the supernatural series’ final entry.

The cast and crew of the CW show announced Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con International that the forthcoming season will be its last.

“The Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec called the ending “bittersweet and emotional.”

“We’re all going to be crying in a minute”, Plec said. “It’s been a beautiful run.”
