KUWAIT CITY:
The Weather Forecast Supervisor at Kuwait Meteorological Department Dr Hussein Al-Sarraf forecasted that Kuwait is likely to witness relatively high humidity
during the weekend due to change of wind from northwesterly to southeasterly.
Dr Al-Sarraf said the country is still under the effect of the extension of the Indian seasonal depression, which results in mass of hot air of unstable movement in the region.
He explained that the instability is due to change in the wind direction such that the very hot northwesterly wind changes to humid southeasterly wind, especially along the coastal region.
Dr Al-Sarraf envisaged that the weather will be very hot Friday afternoon and the mild northwesterly wind will be of moderate speed around 8 and 30 km/h, adding that the maximum temperature will be around 47 and 49 degree Celsius. (KUNA)
BRUSSELS:
The European Commission announced Thursday the approval, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of Termica Milazzo of Italy by Raffineria di Milazzo which is a joint venture between Eni and Kuwait Petroleum Italia, all of Italy.
Termica Milazzo operates a thermal power unit of 145 megawatts located in Sicily, Italy. Raffineria di Milazzo operates a refinery located at the same site as Termica Milazzo’s thermal power unit. Eni is active in the oil, natural gas and electricity sectors worldwide.
Kuwait Petroleum Italia is a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and it is active in the supply of fuel, jet fuel, bunker fuel, lubricants and other petroleum derivatives, said the European Commission in a statement.
The EU’s executive body concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because of the very limited overlaps between the companies’ activities generated by the transaction. (KUNA)
TAMPA, Florida:

Federal and local officials are investigating the blaze Wednesday at the Islamic Education Center in Tampa.
Sallah Harake, a mosque board member, said electricity was blamed for the July 17 fire. But he said the power has been cut off then.
The Islamic center’s caretaker told investigators he heard popping sounds and saw smoke. He doused flames with a hose while a neighbor called 911. (AP)
