KRCS hands out 45,000 food parcels to displaced Iraqis
Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) handed out some 45,000 food baskets to displaced families in various cities within the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
KRCS official Yousef Al-Meraj told KUNA Thursday that since the beginning of 2016, KRCS handed out food baskets for a number of 250,000 displaced Iraqis in the region.
He also said that KRCS has handed out 4,000 coupons and clothes to fulfill the needs of the displaced Iraqis during Eid Al-Fitr.
He added that Kuwait will continue offering aid to ease the pain and suffering of displaced Iraqis and refugees in the region. KRCS continued to deliver relief supplies to displaced Iraqi families in Kurdistan.
Head of KRCS field team Yousef Al - Mearaj told the press, Wednesday, the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in Iraq supervised delivery of clothes to 500 relocated Iraqi families that fled Mosul to Dahuk in Kurdistan.
This relief dispatch was heeding His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s guidelines, the UN-designated Humanitarian Leader, for aiding the violence affected Iraqis.
The State of Kuwait started its humanitarian campaign in Iraq last year, where 80,000 food parcels were handed over to the relocated in Kurdistan. Since start of this year, 45,000 food packages had been provided to the needy in several Iraqi Kurdish regions.
Meanwhile, KRCS in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross, launched Thursday the 13th campaign to provide food for the Syrian refugees in northern Lebanon.
KRCS delegate Dr Musaad Al - Enizi said in a statement to KUNA that 3,000 Syrian refugee families will benefit from the campaign with over 6,000 bags of bread distributed daily in the city of Tripoli.
Dr Al - Enizi said that several bakeries were chosen based on proximity to the dwellings of the refugees to eliminate the difficultly of transporting food.
KRCS distributed 45 million loaves of bread since the establishment of this project last year. (KUNA)
