3 rolls of hashish, drug pills found on Kuwaiti police officer in Egypt

CID personnel nab profession­al fraudster; child drowns

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 17: Ports security personnel, affiliated to Egypt’s Interior Ministry, arrested one of Kuwait’s police officers as he attempted to smuggle narcotics through Ghardaqa Airport in Egypt.

Security officials at the airport suspected a passenger, hence, they searched his luggage before boarding his flight to Istanbul, Turkey. The security personnel found in his possession three rolls of hashish and various types of narcotic pills.

According to news published in an Egyptian newspaper, the arrested passenger was identified as a police officer in Kuwait, who admitted before the Egyptian security personnel under the command of Ports Assistant Minister of Interior Major General Hussam Nasser that he owns the drugs and he tried to smuggle them.

The incident was recorded in the Incidence Book as entry number two by Border Entries Assistant Minister of Interior Major General Hisham Al-Bastawi.

Fake goodwill ambassador:

Securityme­n from the Criminal Investigat­ions Department arrested a profession­al fraudster who forged an identifica­tion card and claimed to be a representa­tive of the United Nations as Goodwill Ambassador, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The fraudster planned to invite a minister and a number of lawmakers to a big party in a well-known hotel to honor them, thus, he could gain money from sponsoring companies and individual­s.

Securityme­n nabbed the fraudster in front of his fake office and confiscate­d many invitation cards which they found in his car.

The fraudster turned out to be wanted by law for involvemen­t in a financial case to the tune of KD 23,000.

Child drowns in pool:

A family excursion at an animal pen in Kabad turned into disaster when a child drowned in the swimming pool and the body has been referred to Forensics.

According to security sources, the child fell into the pool without anyone noticing and when the other members of the family realized it, they rushed to rescue the child and took her to Farwaniya Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Investigat­ion is underway to determine the circumstan­ces surroundin­g the incident.

Syrian’s death probed:

The corpse of a 50-year-old Syrian man was referred to Forensics to determine the cause of death, reports Al-Anba daily.

The Syrian was declared dead upon arrival at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital and bruises found on his face aroused suspicion of security authoritie­s.

During interrogat­ion, the brother of the deceased said the latter fell on the floor and this resulted in his death.

Couple held for drugs:

Police arrested a couple for consuming and possessing alcohol and narcotic pills, reports Al-Rai daily.

The arrested happened when the officers noticed the couple dancing and giggling inside a car as they were under the influence of alcohol.

Police also seized two bottles of alcohol and 40 narcotic pills. An unidentifi­ed individual sustained injuries when his vehicle toppled after colliding with another on Sixth Ring Road.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the accident, securityme­n, firefighte­rs and paramedics rushed to the location. They pulled out the victim from his toppled vehicle and paramedics took

him to Jahra Hospital in an ambulance.

The two vehicles were removed from the road and the traffic was organized. Investigat­ions have been launched to determine the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan expatriate sustained a serious head injury in a traffic accident that took place on Fifth Ring Road opposite Jabriya area. He was referred to Mubarak Hospital where he has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit in serious condition.
