Grilling filed on fuel
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: MPs Abdulla AlTuraiji, Ali Al-Khamees and Ahmed Mutei Al-Azmi on Thursday submitted their grilling request against Finance Minister and acting Oil Minister Anas Saleh to the National Assembly Office.
In a press statement, Al-Khamis disclosed, “We promised the people that we will submit an interpellation motion against the minister
over the gasoline price hike. Today, we fulfilled our promise as the government failed to take appropriate action.”
He also denied the alleged dissolution of the Parliament, indicating “this is not true. Nevertheless, we will push through with our grilling whether or not the legislature is dissolved.”
In addition, Al-Azmi explained they decided to submit the interpellation motion because the situation has reached a dead end and it should not be tolerated. He pointed out the government should rescind its decision to raise the prices of gasoline, hoping that his colleagues will not be afraid of being blamed in this regard as they need to protect the interests of the people who led them to their parliamentary seats.
Al-Turaiji added the two authorities reached an agreement in the recentlyconcluded meeting to support citizens yet it did something humiliating when it decided to grant 75 liters of free fuel monthly to each Kuwaiti who holds a driving license.
He also accused the ministers of spreading rumors on the dissolution of the Parliament, stressing “such acts will not intimidate us. In case the Parliament is dissolved, we will come back and we will defend the rights of citizens.”
He then urged the finance minister to stand on the podium, adding the minister will hear a lot of surprises during the grilling.
In a related development, MP Faisal Al-Kandari confirmed that his grilling request against the finance minister is ready and he will submit it on the day of the opening session as he promised to the people of Kuwait.
He emphasized the need to discuss the interpellation motion because the government took a one-sided decision when it increased the prices of gasoline.
Meanwhile, MP Saleh Ashour has called on the ministers to courageously face the interpellation motions. He added the finance minister welcomed the grilling requests against him, but the question is: Will the minister bear the responsibility and stand on the podium with courage or he will hide behind the government and cause a crisis?
