Kuwaiti-funded medical centers open in Mosul
Dar Al-Khair: Kuwait’s biggest project in E. Sudan
IRBIL, Dec 5, (KUNA): Two medical centers funded by Kuwait were inaugurated at the camps of Khazer and Hassan Sham hosting displaced Iraqis in Mosul.
The two emergency centers were opened today at the two camps to provide medical services to the displaced with the aim of alleviating their suffering, Kuwait Consul General in Irbil Omar Al-Kandari told KUNA on Sunday.
The two centers were also provided with two ambulances, he said, referring to a medical staff offered by Ministry of Health of Iraqi Kurdistan Region to the camps.
Al-Kandari highly appreciated the efforts by the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in aiding internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Iraq.
He affirmed that the State of Kuwait has been committed to meeting the needs of brothers in Iraq, indicating that Kuwait’s consulate is working in coordination with KRG and some charitable organizations in the region to implement an urgent relief program to serve displaced people.
He noted that Kuwait will provide the region’s Ministry of Health with urgent medical supplies for the treatment of the IDPs. The two centers will receive cases, which are expected to rise due to winter, he said.
“We aim to stand side by side with Iraqi people,” he said, revealing that there is a campaign entitled “Kuwait is beside you” for helping Iraqis and mitigating their suffering.
Meanwhile, Suleiman Al-Barzanji, head of Irbil’s health sector, told KUNA in a statement that Kuwait has been paying much attention to the displaced, and “this is a source of pride.” He expressed his gratitude to Kuwait for the inauguration of the two centers and the provision of the two ambulances. He said Kuwait has been playing a prominent role in aiding medically the region. The State of Kuwait distributes two meals per day to IDPs at the two camps, in addition to a number of food baskets to the areas liberated from the so-called Islamic State in Mosul.
Meanwhile, Kuwait has distributed food aid to some 50,000 displaced Iraqis in the war-torn city of Mosul.
Speaking to KUNA on Monday, Kuwait’s Consul General in Irbil Dr. Omar Al-Kandari said that Kuwait’s General Consulate is overseeing aid given to displaced families residing in camps across Mosul.
On the aid, which also encompasses educational assistance, a total of 8,500 food baskets that are a month’s worth of supply were distributed to displaced families, Al-Kandari noted.
Moreover, in a statement to KUNA, Deputy Chairman of Al-Barzani Charity Mousa Ahmad thanked Kuwait for the incessant relief aid the country has provided the Iraqi autonomous region of Kurdistan with. According to government statistics, a total of 85,590 displaced people are languishing in camps in the northern Iraqi city.

KASLA, Sudan: Dar Al-Khair orphanage project, funded by Kuwait’s AlRahma International, is the biggest project of its kind in Kasla, eastern Sudan.
The project, which extends over an area exceeding 52,000 square meters is targeting thousands of orphans. It is an integrated complex for education from kindergarten level to high school. It also offers housing, health and therapeutic services to provide a decent life for orphans.
