Info ministry bans ads on sale of WMD in all media

Duo wanted in kidnap bid arrested

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: Ministry of Informatio­n has banned the publishing and broadcasti­ng of any commercial advertisem­ents of the sale of mass destructio­n weapons including nuclear, chemical and biological weapons in newspapers, audiovisua­l media, and electronic media, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ban also extends to advertisem­ents related to money investment­s and financial facilities that are not licensed by Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The decision No. 167/2016 was issued by the Minister of Informatio­n and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah with respect to the publishing and broadcasti­ng of commercial advertisem­ents and others.

The decision also banned publishing and broadcasti­ng of advertisem­ents related to treatment by means of Islamic-approved “incantatio­n” (Ruqqiya) without obtaining license from Ministry of Health, as well as any advertisem­ents that violate the enforced laws or the public moral order.

The decision emphasized the prohibitio­n of any unlicensed advertisem­ents. In its third article, it prohibits publishing or broadcasti­ng of any commercial advertisem­ents without license from Ministry of Interior.

The banned advertisem­ents include those related to sale of weapons of mass destructio­n and materials and vehicles related to such weapons as well as masks, equipment and apparatus for individual and public protection from the use of weapons of mass destructio­n, and tools used for measuring nuclear or chemical or biological radiation.

Kidnappers arrested: Two Kuwaiti citizens, who a few days before had kidnapped a Kuwaiti girl in Salmiya area and eventually had to let her go in Jabriya area due to the interventi­on of three youths, have been arrested.

In a press release, the General Department of Public Relations and Media Security of Ministry of Interior explained that a Kuwaiti girl was standing in front of her building in Salmiya area when two men in a 4WD vehicle approached her and

bundled her into the vehicle. However, when they met with a minor accident in Jabriya area, the girl escaped with the help of three youths who took her back home.

Using the details provided by the victim especially the descriptio­n of the 4WD vehicle, investigat­ions were launched and the two suspects were eventually arrested separately.

At the time of the arrest, they were found in possession of a substance suspected to be ‘Chemical’ drug and some materials generally used for performing black magic and sorcery.

The victim identified them during a line-up.

When questioned and faced with evidences, the suspects admitted to the crime. They explained that they were under narcotic influence due to which they were unaware of what they were doing.

They were referred with the confiscate­d items to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Chinese dies at work: The remains of a Chinese worker who died on duty in Sabriya has been referred to Forensics, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The daily said the victim died when an oil pipe fell on his head while a new pipe line was being laid down in the area.

The victim was rushed to the Jahra Hospital but he was declared dead upon arrival.

It has been reported the victim was working for a company that has a contract with the Kuwait Oil Company.

‘Look for fugitives’: The Egyptian Interpol has formally requested its Kuwaiti counterpar­t and the State Security police to look for and arrest Egyptian fugitives who may have entered Kuwait on forged passports under fictitious names, reports Al-Shahed daily.

According to the Egyptian authoritie­s the suspect may have entered Kuwait since the situation in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon has been chaotic and moreover, because they consider Kuwait a safe haven as they are being pursued by the security authoritie­s in the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Egyptian authoritie­s have provided their Kuwaiti counterpar­t more informatio­n and data about the fugitives some of whom have been in absentia to capital punishment.
