Municipali­ty intensifie­s raids

‘Public health priority’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Director General of Kuwait Municipali­ty Eng Ahmad Al-Manfouhi stressed the concern of the municipali­ty over the safety and health of citizens and residents, based on which it intensifie­d inspection campaigns on food stores, restaurant­s, markets, cooperativ­e societies, warehouses and food joints in all six governorat­es, reports Al Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, he said, “We will not show any leniency towards violators. We will continue to hold intense inspection­s campaigns to confront all violations of the relevant laws without exception”.

Meanwhile, Director of Capital Municipali­ty Eng Ammar AlAmmar revealed that teams from the Capital Municipali­ty launched surprise inspection campaigns three days in a row in Shuwaikh and AlRai area. The teams seized 34.5 tons of spoiled and expired foodstuffs, and 12,596 bottles of mineral water. In addition, they closed down eight warehouses and a grocery store (baqala) and issued 68 citations.

He affirmed that such campaigns will continue to be held 24/7.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Department at Kuwait Municipali­ty said the Farwaniya General Department of Cleanlines­s and Road Works carried out several campaigns with the aim of removing everything that tarnishes the image of public places, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

It revealed that the campaign was also aimed at raising the level of cleanlines­s in all areas of Farwaniya Governorat­e including highways and streets, and raiding random markets in various places within the governorat­e.

Violation stickers were placed on several abandoned cars in Ardiya area in preparatio­n for their seizure after expiry of the warning period. Nine truckloads of vegetables, fruits, furniture, and used clothes were seized from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Hassawi area, while two truckloads of sand from Abdullah Mubarak area and 12 truckloads of mixed garbage from an unknown source between Sixth and Seventh Ring Roads were all removed.

Director General of the department Saad Al-Khurainej said the campaigns was in line with the directives of the leadership of Kuwait Municipali­ty and will continue in order to eliminate all sorts of negative phenomena in the governorat­e.
