From ‘very good’ to ‘excellent’ for teacher

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: The Administrative Court ordered rectification of the job performance rating given to a female teacher who got ‘very good’ instead of ‘excellent’.
Case files indicate that the teacher works in the Ministry of Education and she was appraised by the head teacher in her school and principal who gave her certificates for excellent work.
Because of her diligence and hard work, she was sent to Bahrain to complete her postgraduate certificate and she graduated with excellent grades.
Upon her return, she discovered that her rating was ‘very good’ and this affected all her previous appraisals so she missed the opportunity of receiving the work excellence award throughout her career.
Representing the plaintiff was Attorney Muhammad Hamza who asked the ministry to rectify his client’s rating to ‘excellent’, but the ministry’s lawyer rejected it and urged the court to dismiss the case.
The court ruled in favor of the teacher as her rating was reevaluated and she was given ‘excellent’.
Decision overruled:
The Administrative Court has cancelled the decision issued by Director General of the Criminal Investigation that rejected a citizen applying for the position of detective.
Details of the lawsuit filed on behalf of the citizen by Lawyer Khaled BuJarwa indicated his client earned his Bachelors of Law from Kuwait University with “very good” GPA of 84 percent in 2013.
He explained the Interior Ministry announced vacancies for junior legal counselors at the Investigation Department for holders of Law and Sharia licenses in 2013 and 2014 with minimum GPA of ‘very good’, so his client was surprised to be excluded from 128 candidates appointed within the decision since he surpassed all requirements. He had also passed the oral and written exams, as well as the interview. He lamented some of those appointed had scored lower grades than him.
