Egyptian going home from Kuwait caught with drugs in Saudi Arabia

KUWAIT CITY, March 11: An Asian housemaid was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Farwaniya Hospital after cutting the artery on her right hand in an attempt to end her life at the sponsor’s house in Ishbiliya area.

Acting on informatio­n, a team of rescue men went to the location and referred the injured maid to the hospital.

Initial investigat­ion revealed that she took a knife from the kitchen and slashed her wrist. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. A case was registered against her.

Drugs with Egyptian:

The Saudi Road Safety authoritie­s have taken into custody an unidentifi­ed Egyptian who works as an accountant for possessing 32,000 narcotic pills, 250,000 Saudi riyals and KD 420, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the contraband was found hidden in the trunk of his car registered in Kuwait.

The man, who was reportedly on his way to visit his ‘sick’ brother in Egypt, was caught after he left the country via the Nuwaiseeb border post.

The Road Safety men then inspected the car and found money and the pills in the trunk of the car.

According to the Kuwaiti security authoritie­s, the man is holding a valid Kuwait residence permit which expires on April 30, 2017, he is a criminal and has a case pending before courts.

Bootlegger­s nabbed:

Acting on a tip-off personnel from the Kuwait Municipali­ty raided a house in Mubarak Al-Kabir and arrested five Asians for turning the apartment into a alcohol manufactur­ing factory, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the Municipali­ty has confiscate­d 185 barrels of brew and bottles of booze ready for sale and the alcohol manufactur­ing equipment.

The bootlegger­s have been referred to the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control.

An unidentifi­ed Kuwaiti died in traffic accident in Salmi, reports Al-Anba daily.

The victim reportedly lost control of his vehicle and it overturned and killed the man on the spot.

Malawians

repatriate­d:

The Malawian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced 60 domestic workers from Kuwait have been repatriate­d after allegation­s they were subjected to various types of maltreatme­nt according to reports published by the Malawian media, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ministry said after the maids arrived in Malawi they were taken to a shelter and then handed over to their families.

Malawian reports mentioned the maids were subjected to various types of abuses, including working for long hours, as long as 16, no holidays, and some of them even paid less than what was agreed in the contract, confiscati­on of identifica­tion documents.

According to the media, some of them were even verbally, physically and sexually abused.

Thieves doing drugs:

Police have arrested two bedoun for consuming drugs and stealing valuables from camps, reports Al-Anba daily.

The bedoun were initially arrested for reckless driving in Jahra. At the time of arrest, both men appeared disoriente­d and police then searched them and seized narcotic pills from them in addition to items they had stolen from camps.

Police later also found 9 heads of cattle which they had allegedly stolen from an unknown place.

Jogger assaulted:

Police are looking for an unidentifi­ed person for assaulting a young Kuwaiti while jogging in Mishref, reports Al-Rai daily.

The citizen told police when he was jogging the suspect ordered him to hand over whatever he had and when the latter refused, he allegedly punched him in the face and escaped with his cell phone.

The citizen has submitted a medical report which shows injury to the nose.

Blogger arrested:

Police have arrested an unidentifi­ed Kuwaiti who is operating an account on the Internet under the name ‘Control 90’ for abusing the symbols of the State, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the arrest came after police put the man under surveillan­ce for a long time and finally raided his home at an unidentifi­ed location. State securityme­n have seized from the suspect electronic devices, a PC and data.

During interrogat­ion the suspect admitted to the charge and gave police the names of people who supported him.

He has been handed over to the Public Prosecutor for further interrogat­ion.

Police have arrested an unidentifi­ed Indian domestic helper for allegedly stealing KD 1,120 from her sponsor, reports Al-Rai daily.

A security source said the arrest came after the Kuwaiti filed a complaint with the Zahra Police Station accusing the maid of stealing his money.
