Bahraini minister hails Amir for his role in regional stability

Speaker Al-Ghanim wraps up 3-day visit to Sweden

MANAMA, March 25, (KUNA): Bahraini Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Al-Mutawa hailed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his primary role in maintainin­g stability and peace in the Gulf area.

A statement by the Kuwaiti embassy in Bahrain on Friday said Al-Mutawa, during a meeting with the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah, acknowledg­ed the strong relationsh­ip that bonds the two nations.

On his part, Sheikh Azzam AlSabah praised the Bahraini-Kuwaiti relations, pointing out “the perfect relationsh­ip has remained intact between the two nations,” He praised the Kingdom for its keenness on bolstering the bilateral relations with Kuwait.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim held talks with Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden Isabella Lovin, also Minister for Internatio­nal Developmen­t Cooperatio­n, in Stockholm Friday.

The talks addressed ways to coordinate Kuwaiti-Swedish stands toward a number of several regional and internatio­nal issues such as terrorism and Arab-European cooperatio­n prospects, Natiaonal Assembly’s media and public relations department said in a press statement.

The two sides also discussed their bilateral relations and similariti­es between their countries’ foreign policies, particular­ly in humanitari­an interventi­on and efforts in conflict and disaster-stricken countries, pointing out the urgency to coordinati­ng joint effort in that regard.

For her part, Lovin commended Kuwait’s recent humanitari­an efforts, especially in organizing and hosting three internatio­nal donors’ conference­s for Syria, in addition to its countless aid and relief campaigns in several countries in Asia and Africa.

In return, Al-Ghanim praised Stockholm’s foreign policy in supporting peace initiative­s and a number of Arab issues, particular­ly the Palestinia­n cause, pointing out Sweden as the first European country to recognize Palestine as an independen­t state.

Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, along with his entourage, concluded on Saturday a three-day official visit to Sweden.

Speaker Al-Ghanim and his associates were seen off at the airport in Sweden by the State of Kuwait Ambassador to the nation, Nabil AlDekheel.

The delegation, comprising a number of MPs, was in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday, where the legislator­s took part in the Arab InterParli­amentary Union conference, before they proceeded to Sweden on Tuesday for meetings with the nation’s officials and counterpar­ts.
