Drugs found as man arrested after chase

KUWAIT CITY, March 25: A motorist accompanie­d by another person was arrested by security operatives in Sulaibiya area in possession of illicit drug and related tools after defying orders to stop for checking.

A security source said officers on a round of the aforementi­oned area spotted the suspect’s vehicle moving in an erratic and ordered the driver to pull over for checking, but he ignored them.

The officers chased and arrested the suspect with his companion. They went ahead and conducted a search inside the vehicle and recovered illicit drug and related tools. The duo was referred to concerned authoritie­s.

Preacher stabbed: Police are looking for an unidentifi­ed youth for stabbing in the shoulder an Egyptian imam of a mosque in Umm Al-Haiman, reports Al-Rai daily.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the area cooperativ­e society when the suspect driving a pickup wagon drove in the opposite direction and asked the imam to give him way.

The imam obliged by reversing his vehicle and the youth got angry because he felt the imam was not quick enough to obey his order.

Both people were involved in an argument and the suspect stabbed the imam and drove off.

The imam has been admitted to a hospital. Hospital sources said the imam is lucky enough because the stab is not life threatenin­g.
