Former US vice president Al Gore during an interview. JORDAN, March 25, (KUNA): The State of Kuwait dedicates special concern for the Palestinian cause which tops agenda of the forthcoming Arab summit, says a ranking official of the Gulf state.
Kuwait provides needed support as well special attention to the Palestinian question, re-affirmed Ambassador Aziz Al-Dihani, the Assistant Foreign Minister for the Arab World Affairs, in a statement to KUNA on Saturday.
The diplomat was speaking to KUNA on sidelines of a meeting of permanent delegates at the Arab League.
Al-Dihani, head of the Kuwaiti delegation at the envoys’ meeting, indicated that he agreed with the conferees on classifying the Palestinian issue as a prime topic in the agenda.
It will top schedule of the forthcoming summit, due to its strategic significance, he declared.
Kuwaiti people are in distress due to abusive acts against the Palestinians; such practices have also hampered the Middle East peace process, he added.
Kuwait will host in May an international convention about the Palestinian children’s hardships, caused by the Israeli breaches of their rights.
As to the summit, set to kick off on Wednesday, he affirmed its significance, under chairmanship of King Abdullah II.
The summit will also address other serious issues such as Syria, Libya and Yemen.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has devised a strategy to stifle the rise of violent extremism and promote temperateness in the Gulf region, a Kuwaiti official said on Saturday in Riyadh. Speaking to KUNA after the third meeting of Assistant Ministers of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Undersecretary of Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Fareed Amadi said that the meeting “tackled a number of pivotal issues to set the stage for the meeting of GCC Ministers of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs slated for April 19-20 in Bahrain.”
