Kuwait charity schools offer education for Syrian refugee kids
Center’s first forum held in Lebanon hails the initiative’s big success
TRIPOLI, North Lebanon, March 27, (KUNA): Kuwait charity schools in northern Lebanon have succeeded in their initiatives launched four years ago by a group of active Kuwaiti figures in the field of charity.
Starting with eight schools opened by the Kuwaiti International Center for Qualitative Education, an affiliate of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) in 2013, it has realized remarkable achievements to reach about 30 schools serving more than 13,000 children in 2013, to reach a total of 45,000 children until 2017.
The center’s first forum held in Lebanon yesterday praised the initiative’s big success and lauded efforts of the center in supporting thousands of Syrian children in Lebanon and securing them opportunities for good education.
In statements to KUNA by a number of the center’s officials on the sidelines of the forum, they praised the educational services provided by the center for thousands of children.
For his part, the center’s ViceChairman of the Executive Board Khalil Hammadi said the center has doubled its work in Lebanon due to the increasing need for such a project specially with existence of more than 1.5 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon including thousands of children.
In a similar statement, media advisor Essam Al-Fulaij stressed the importance of offering education for all children and warned of the danger of leaving them without education which may lead to many negative phenomena in the future.
For his part, Education Director at the Center Tareq Al-Abdullah said the center is keen to provide job opportunities for a large number of people within the educational and administrative staff in order to earn a living.
In turn, Professor at Kuwait Ministry of Education and volunteer at the center Ghazi Al-Rashedi stressed the importance of focusing on education and praised the center’s achievements.
For their parts, the center and school’s officials expressed thanks and appreciation for Kuwait’s government, people and to the center for this initiative to ensure education for Syrian children.
Kuwait International Center for Qualitative Education launched its activities on Sunday in northern Lebanon where it gathered heads and school staffs from some 30 Kuwait charity schools.
Tens of students’ parents also participated in the forum that included sports, scientific and theatrical shows performed by the students, focusing on the sufferings of the Syrian people afflicted by the war and violence at home.
