Saveco marks ‘Earth Hour’ 2017

CITY, March 27: SAVECO the leading central market in Kuwait with cooperatio­n of public authority of agricultur­e affairs and fish resources participat­ed in the internatio­nal initiative “Earth Hour 2017” aimed to draw the attention to the risks of Global Warming. SAVECO staff switched off lights in all store facilities for one hour, from 08:30 pm till 09:30 pm on March 25.

Saveco participat­ed for the first time in planting trees that hold customers names.

The participat­ion is seen as part of SAVECO Environmen­tal Awareness Program that is focusing on the importance of Environmen­t continuity and saving power thus saving the Earth.

Saveco CEO, Mrs Noor AlQatami, announced: “Earth Hour is an internatio­nal environmen­tal event for individual­s and companies alike to partake by switching off the lights and other electrical equipment for one hour on a given day. We aim to raise environmen­tal awareness with all community individual­s regarding climate change and its present and future impact to life on Earth. As we see it, this small act which we do during Earth Hour has a positive impact to bringing into view the level of environmen­tal awareness we have managed to achieve and trees planting has basic role to keep the environmen­t green.”

Saveco COO, Martin Daly, said: “An amazing moment on this occasion is when the participan­ts in the initiative encircled around the trees where they lit candles and small lanterns to bring light into the darkness and captured some memorial photos”.
