Jahra Governorate plans to establish new city in the west
KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Jahra Governor Ret. Lieutenant General Fahad Al-Ameer declared the governorate’s desire to establish a new city in the west of Jahra, 10 km away from the governorate, indicating that the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) will construct low-cost housing units to which residents of Taima area will move so that Taima areas becomes a private residential area, reports Al-Rai daily.
Ret Lieutenant General Al-Ameer said this during an interview with the daily.
He also announced good news for fans of motor sports, refusing to refer to them as “drifters” and instead calling them “drivers with special skills”. He explained that Jahra Governorate, in collaboration with Kuwait Municipality, will designate a secure racing track circuit beside Jahra Graveyard for them to practice the sport, after the idea is endorsed by the Municipal Council.
During the interview, the governor highlighted the importance of diversification of sources of income through establishment of industries, and not through imposing and increasing charges, in order to increase national income.
He expressed his hope that the Silk City Project will achieve growth in the country as part of Kuwait Vision 2035, especially since it will not depend on oil due to its fluctuating prices.
Jahra Governor Al-Ameer affirmed that the governorate will have the lion’s share in the constructional projects for the development of the infrastructure in the country, which will be pivotally based on the Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge that will lead to Subbiya area where the Silk City will be located.
