Bangladesh Embassy marks Genocide Day
Martyrs honored
KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait observed Genocide Day 2017 at the Chancery in a befitting manner in presence of embassy officials, officials of the Bangladesh Military Contingent, Bangladesh Biman, members of the community and representatives of the print and electronic media.
The program started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Special Dua and Munajat were offered seeking divine blessings for the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives on March 25, 1971 and prayed for the continued progress of the country.
One minute silence was observed in honor of the martyrs.
The messages given by the Honorable President, the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh were read out by officers of the embassy. Mr Md Anisuzzaman, First Secretary anchored the program.
On March 11, 2017 the Bangladeshi Parliament during its 14th session unanimously adopted a resolution declaring March 25 as Genocide Day.
The discussion took place in participating from the Bangladesh communities leaders and various socio-cultural organizations. They highlighted on this day significantly.
His Excellency the Ambassador S.M. Abul Kalam in his speech highlighted the significance of the Day. The ambassador said that the occupation forces unleashed a sudden attack and started killing innocent and unarmed Bangalees on the ‘black night’ of the March 25, 1971.
They killed thousands of people in cities and towns, including Dhaka.
The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman officially proclaimed the independence of Bangladesh at the first hour of March 26, 1971.
Bangabandhu’s proclamation was spread all over the country through telegram, tele-printers and EPR wireless.
The international media also had circulated Bangabandhu’s proclamation of independence.
Under the brave and dauntless leadership of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh earned the ultimate victory on the Dec 16, 1971 after a 9-month bloody war.
Finally the ambassador urged all to work unitedly for the benefit of the country.
