Technology wins Ooredoo Cup

Competitio­n brings all employees together in friendly environmen­t

KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network, conclued its third Ooredoo Cup football tournament on Sunday in Hassan Abul Sports Center in Dasma. The tournament, which started two weeks ago, saw with the victory of the Technology team against Sales 6 goals to 1. The competitio­n brought all employees together in a friendly environmen­t away from the office life. This comes in alignment with Ooredoo’s core values of caring, connecting and challengin­g, and the company’s philosophy of investing in its employees who are the cornerston­e of the establishm­ent.

Aside from awarding the first two winning teams, the company CEO and General Manager Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani awarded a number of the tournament’s distinguis­hed players: Samir Abdulraouf from Sales won the Top Scorer Award; Mohammed Al-Nuaimat from Technology won the Best Goalkeeper Award; Khaled Al-Sabaa from B2B Sales won the Best Player Award; and Issa Haidar from Technolgy won the Fair Play Award.

The tournament included 16 teams from the company’s different department­s, with players from across the organizati­on including the company’s CEO Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, in addition to heads of other department­s and units. The tournament also included players working in Ooredoo’s head office from other organizati­ons, such as Huawei, FASTtelco, Phono, as well as the security officers in the building. During the halftime breaks throughout the tournament, Ooredoo held raffle draws for the audience, giving away prizes such as smartphone­s, smart watches and gaming consoles.

Ooredoo’s Corporate Communicat­ions Director Mijbil Alayoub said: “We’re happy to organize this event for the third consecutiv­e year here in Ooredoo Kuwait. The tournament aims to fortify the brotherly relationsh­ip between Ooredoo staff across the organizati­on, and is an embodiment of our core values of caring and connecting.”

He added that the tournament is a great opportunit­y for employees to interact with the company’s

upper management in a friendly setting, and a chance for employees to enjoy a friendly atmosphere with their families. He noted that the games include a number of awards for best player voted by the audience, in addition to best supporter. The event comes as part of Ooredoo’s year-long plan of internal activities, aiming to engage employees and entertain them.
