Amir congratulates King Salman on award for services to Islam
Japanese PM hails ties with Kuwait, Arab world
KUWAIT CITY, April 5, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has addressed a cable of congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on receiving the International King Faisal Award for Services to Islam.
The monarch was granted the award (in its 39th edition) in gratitude for his service of the worshippers at the holy sites, his care for the Prophet’s sayings and life history, support for the historic atlas for the Prophet’s livelihood, construction of King Abulaziz complex for waqf libraries in Holy Medinah for preserving the Arab and Islamic heritage, construction of King Salman center for relief and humanitarian action and his efforts to unifying the Arabs and Muslmis face hard conditions.
His Highness the Amir prayed to His Almighty to bestow his grace upon the King and wished the Kingdom further promotion and prosperity.
An identical cable was addressed to the monarch by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe lauded the ties linking Japan to the Arab world, affirming that his country was eager to boost relation on all possible levels with several Arab countries, including Kuwait.
Abe’s statement came during his speech to the annual Arab-Japanese day celebration held late Tuesday in Tokyo.
A statement by the Kuwaiti Embassy said that the Japanese Prime Minister expressed special interest boosting ties with Kuwait.
It indicated that Abe touched on the past visit by His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Japan in May of 2016, affirming that Japan’s Prime Minister indicated that it was one of the highlights of KuwaitiJapanese relations.
Shinzo Abe also touched on JapaneseArab cultures, saying that both sides shared similar values and views.
Overcoming obstacles in the way of enhancing Japanese-Arab relations was necessary, said Abe who reiterat-
ed his nation’s eagerness to extend ties with the Arab world.
On his part, Kuwait Ambassador to Tokyo Mansour Al-Otaibi said that relations between Japan and the Arab
world have witnessed great leaps in recent years, resulting in several signed accords and agreements aimed at bolstering ties in all fields.
Al-Otaibi, who also chairs the council
of Arab Ambassadors to Japan, affirmed that the Asian nation played an integral role in world politics, indicating that Tokyo’s stance on important regional and global issues was to be
admired by all nations around the globe.
He indicated that the council of Arab Ambassadors to Japan would like to extend a proposal to the Japan government to recognize Palestine as
an independent state, stressing that the level of strong relations between the Arab world and Japan had made it paramount for Arab representatives to submit this request.
