MGRP urges concerted efforts in bid to fight fake recruitment
Viewpoints among board members settled: anti-graft body chief
KUWAIT CITY, April 5, (KUNA): SecretaryGeneral of Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) and Executive Organ of the State Fawzi Al-Majdali said Wednesday it is imperative for all state agencies to work together to combat “fake recruitment”.
Al-Majdali said in a press statement that state bodies also have to exert concerted efforts in order to prevent attempted abuses of public funds in the country.
The Public Prosecution has referred 25 Kuwaiti citizens to the Criminal Court in connection with abuses of public funds in the tune of KD 158,000 (around $578,000), he added.
He emphasized that public funds are a core pillar of the State so all governmental agencies and institutions are required to fight any bid of abuses whatsoever.
Head of Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority Abdulrahman Al-Namash affirmed that the dispute over viewpoints among the members of the Board of Trustees was settled during the last meeting, reports Aljarida daily.
He said the board members agreed to hold a meeting every Tuesday and whenever needed based on the law and decree, adding that they agreed to discuss certain issues and leave controversial issues for further study and research.
Al-Namash stressed the keenness of the board to complete the missions and fulfill the intended objectives.
He explained that the meeting began by thanking His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his keenness to retain Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority and remove all obstacles in its way. After that, discussions were held about amending the corruptionfighting strategy as well as ways to enhance cooperation with the official bodies in this regard. The complaints presented to the authority prior to the issuance of the verdict, which considered decree law No. 24/2012 as unconstitutional, were discussed.
Al-Namash said, “Irrespective of the court’s decision concerning the complaints against the decision No. 2/2016 related to establishment of Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority, all possible verdicts are being studied with the aim of finding suitable alternatives and best ways to deal with the verdict”.
He indicated that the Kuwait AntiCorruption Authority has referred a number of complaints about corruption, including the delay in submitting financial disclosures, to the Public Prosecution last week, adding that more complaints will soon be referred to the Public Prosecution.
