Help out center of life

Children are divided into two categories – one normal or highly intelligent and two, slow learning, or those with mental disabilities. The first category is divided into two categories: those who do not complain about learning disabilities and those who complain.

One who is suffering from the learning disability may be highly intelligent or even a genius but because he did not get proper attention to his condition, for some or the other reason, he may have deviated and caused headache to the community. One of the reasons may be the failure of the parents to diagnose his condition and provide appropriate attention.

One of the most known types of learning disabilities is in reading (dyslexia), which is the most common. There is also the disability in learning math ‘dyscalculia’, and disability in writing coherently ‘dysgraphia’.

The problem of attention deficit, accompanied by hyperactivity, and the problem of dyspraxia, causes difficulty in activities requiring coordination and movement such as tying a shoe lace or buttoning a shirt.

All these disabilities impede the progress of an individual, and may be a curse to him and his community, but early diagnosis and therapeutic intervention can often return the child to the right path.

Therefore it is very important for those who have the desire, sincerity and experience to diagnose and provide the necessary treatment to prevent the deviation of the child, while focusing on the importance of parental observation, and then seeking treatment for him instead of relying on the illusion that he will be better when he grows. Early diagnosis is very necessary in such cases.

In spite of the presence of dozens of government and private institutions and agencies that provide psychological, physical and social counseling and assistance to people with various disabilities, a few of these known institutions are marvelous in humanitarian, social and security work.

The Center for Child Evaluation & Teaching (CCET) is one of the most active institutions has been paying attention to the needs of such children since its establishment 33 years ago by Faten Al Bader, members of her family and the working team.

Some of them have been with her since day one and have devoted their time and efforts to this center and sacrificed a lot to make it the best place in Kuwait to diagnose and treat children with disabilities for over three decades.

They have succeeded in dealing with tens of thousands of cases. But if not for the efforts of the center, we would have been in a very bad shape at the social and family level.

Today, The Center for Child Evaluation & Teaching (CCET) is considered one of the most respected institutions after having been recognized and appreciated by many local, regional and international institutions. It is a world class training center and a role model and is believed to be on par in importance with Singapore’s famous center.

In spite of the heavy burden on the management of this non-profit institution which has to work two shifts, morning and evening, to meet the increasing demand, after 33 years of continuous work in silence, it is facing a real problem due to scarcity of resources.

This center has now become obsessed and a source of concern to the management for its inability to pay the salaries of employees.

We know of people donating money for religious projects, for example to construct mosques, but The Center for Child Evaluation & Teaching is no less important than any religious project.

People can pray anywhere, but it is impossible to provide treatment for a child who has the learning deficiency outside a specialized center.

Therefore, we call upon those good-hearted and generous people to financially assist this non-profit organization to help it continue in its national and humanitarian role, and this is what I have done.
