Preparatio­ns reviewed:

Director General of Public Authority for Youth (PAY) Abdulrahma­n Al-Mutairi has reviewed preparatio­ns for planned celebratio­ns of Kuwait as the “Capital of Arab Youth of 2017”.

The event is set to kick off in midMay under the auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Speaking to KUNA in a statement on Wednesday, Al-Mutairi said that he revised celebratio­n plans in detail during a meeting of the technical committee on youth affiliated to the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports.

The meeting is part of preparator­y meetings for the 40th session of the council and 60th session of its executive council.

He added that celebratio­ns include a number of gatherings and activities aiming to enable Arab youths to invest their energies, and encourage them to work and launch initiative­s to achieve leadership and developmen­t of the Arab world.

He stressed that Kuwait is paying much attention to youths as they are a basic factor of developmen­t and progress in societies. (KUNA)

Contract signed:

Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n (KPC) decided to issue a variation order for the contract to establish power stations in the Burqan Oil Field at a cost of KD 11.9 million, extending to the end of 2017, reports Al-Anba daily.

Oil sources said Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n signed the contract of KD 107.3 million with Sayed Hameed Behbehani Company on May 13, 2012 and the change order is 11.1 percent of the overall expenditur­e.

They noted KPC seeks to replace some existing power plants and install new secondary power plants as part of comprehens­ive strategy to develop the Burqan Field to improve its production from 1.5 barrels to 1.7 million barrels daily. They noted the strategic storage of Burgan Oil Field is considered among the largest, not only in Kuwait but the entire world.

Center launched:

Beverly Hills Center in Kuwait recently launched ‘Ankang Beverly Hills Medical Center for Pain Treatment’— the first of its kind in Kuwait where FIMS Technique is used in the treatment of pain with dry needle. The project is a joint venture of Beverly Hills and South Korea-based Ankang Hospital.

The event was held under the auspices of South Korean Ambassador to Kuwait Yoo Yeonchul. Professor Ankang represente­d the hospital and the Director of Beverly Hills Dr Ghazan Zain represente­d the company at the launch.

Wife assaulted:

An Egyptian woman presented medical report to officers at the Farwaniya Police Station and accused the husband of beating her with sandals during a verbal altercatio­n between them, says Al-Seyassah.
