Drawing policy for crisis and disaster management and putting in place executive plans for relief and assistance operations
Supervising the implementation plans for crises management and relief operations in coordination with the competent state institutions to implement the plan of action.
Direct oversight on the preparations for disaster and crises management and response and allocate permanent relief teams and avoid and combat crises; assess and resolve damages and verify compensations in this regard.
Seeking the help of experienced specialists in this field who are aware of the activities of the National Center for Crisis and Disaster Management inside and outside Kuwait
To encourage and support research for crisis and disaster management
Presenting periodic reports on preparations for disaster prevention
Identifying the negative effects of these crises and disasters and coordinating with the relevant state institutions to find appropriate solutions and work to implement and follow them up
Setting up an explanatory information program in the field of crisis and disaster management with the aim of educating the citizens and residents in the country and how to deal with it
Studying the relevant international agreements on crisis and disaster management and relief work and benefit from experiences in prevention and response
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Parliamentary Priorities Committee MP Thamer Al-Suwait said the next parliamentary session will see on the agenda the most important bills such as the citizenship bill and the amendment to the Administrative Court law to empower the judiciary on the issues of citizenship.
He added the agenda will also include a proposal to reduce the value of interest on loans given by Public Institute for Social Security
On the other hand, Al-Suwait stated the Priorities Committee has not delayed any proposals or priorities, particularly since the purpose of creating the committee was to speed up work.
He emphasized on the eagerness of the committee in the area of coordination and urged the other parliamentary committees to complete their tasks. He pointed out some committees are late in submitting their reports.
He explained in the framework of the committee’s duty to follow the laws that have not been issued or have not been implemented, the issue of the Ministry of Health came up for discussion with regards to regulating the profession of Pharmacy. A pledge has been given to issue regulations within a period not exceeding three months.
He added the committee also discussed the Interior Ministry’s shortcomings in implementing the naturalization law of 2000 when it was disclosed that only 305 people were naturalized over the past year.
