‘US must do more for Syrians’

‘Arab, Muslim support vital’

- — Compiled by Zaki Taleb

“PEOPLE still ponder over the motive of the US missile attack on one of the Syrian military airbases. Is it just a play as some people see it or is it aimed at boosting the image of the US President Donald Trump among the Americans in general and in the eyes of the US media in particular,” columnist, the Dean of the College of Technological Studies at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and the Deputy Chairman of the Islamic Heritage Revival Society (IHRS) Dr Wael Al-Hassawi wrote for Al-Rai daily.

“This we say because the Americans have been attacking their president since day one of his election. Or is it that the strike is to persuade the Americans that Trump is totally different from the hesitant Barack Obama, who in the eyes of the Arab world was the worst president in the history of the United States of America.

“As a matter of fact, most senior US officials are convinced that the US role has taken a back seat because of the hesitation shown by Obama in dealing with the Syrian crisis. It looks like he had deliberately handed over the role in Syria to Russia and Iran.

“Not just that, the Americans realized how their country which represented the sole superpower in the world was insulted at foreign level because of the hesitant Obama policies.

“It appears the US is determined to seize the opportunity to deal with the Syrian crisis and to prove to the world that Washington is still capable of controlling world issues.

“However, the strike by Trump against the regime of Assad is partial, incomplete and limited. This strike came in retaliation to such a crime that has been committed by the Syrian regime of using chemical weapons against the Syrians. Nobody can deny the brutality of this regime against the Syrian children.

“Of course, the logic says the US must go ahead and destroy the remaining airbases of Assad’s regime throughout Syria.

“Not just that, Washington must warn Moscow if the latter still insists to bomb the civilians in Idlib, Syria. It is needless to say we know the rules of the game will allow the US to do more than it has done, particularly since we know that Washington had recently announced that Assad remaining in power or his downfall is not important for the US administration and this seemingly encouraged Assad to use chemical weapons motivated by his conviction that the use of these weapons is something allowed and the US would not mind the use of such weapons.

“Hence, arguments over supporting or rejecting action taken by President Trump cannot be justified. But, the Arab and Mus- lim leaders must be urged to encourage the US to go ahead in its attitude and support the persecuted Syrians.

“Not just that, the Arab and Muslim leaders must support the US by all means so that the Americans see the bright side of Islam. As a matter of fact, it is obvious that President Trump in spite of his racist attitude and arrogance, he is not subjected to too much influence of the Zionist lobby, rather he has positive emotions and this was evident when he showed his anger at the Syrian regime following strikes against the civilians.

“Anyway, we hope President Trump will strike the head of the devil in the Iranian regime because cutting of the head will lead to the collapse of the regime that is currently striving to control the Arabian Gulf, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon. Moreover, this regime still insists to export its revolution to all countries in the region by force.

“As a matter of fact, President Trump has expressed his resentment to the Iranian intervention in many countries of the world. Not just that, he has actually threatened to take action against this intervention, and this means Trump must be supported and eventually go beyond the dreams that the Iranian regime will return to rationality and follow a balanced policy.

“In conclusion, I would like to speak about the explosions that targeted two churches in Egypt and ask you if you believe in what I had earlier told you that the Islamic State (IS) or the so-called DAESH is just a device in the hands of the Eastern and Western secret services when the need arises.

“In this connection, we elucidate that the state of détente that has been shown by the Syrians following the US strike on one of the Syrian airbases and the sympathy shown by the world towards the persecuted Syrians, DAESH has moved on and bombed two churches in Egypt to prove to the world that the latter’s sympathy with the Muslims is the biggest mistake committed by this world and keep the Christians under the impression that the Muslims are involved in bombing the churches and killing the Christians and as such Muslims should be at the mercy of Bashar Al-Assad until they are killed and the world got rid of them.”

“Certainly the move made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the Arab countries including Iraq and Egypt to support the Arab/Arab relations, is of optimum significance under the current circumstances in the Arab world,” columnist Abdulmohsen Al-Husseini wrote for Al-Shahed daily.

“In the meantime, it is noteworthy to mention HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad has played a basic role to create an appropriate atmosphere to support the Arab/Arab relations. It is needless to say the resumption of Arab/Arab relations and clearing the Arab/Arab atmospheres is imperative at the moment.

“Such being the case, the Arab Summit that was held recently in Jordan actually played a significant role to purge the Arab atmosphere and this was evident through the convergence between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iraq to prevent the Iranian intervention in the Iraqi affairs. This Saudi move was vehemently appreciated by all Iraqis — Sunnis and Shiites — because they feel the Arab atmosphere is in a dire need of blanket purification.

“During the next few days, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz will pay a visit to Egypt to surmount all differences over the issue of Tiran and Sanafeer Islands although the issue was referred to the Egyptian judiciary and the latter gave its final verdict confirming the affiliation of the islands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“In spite of the above, some people still attempt to raise some difference between Egypt and the Kingdom over this issue and one attorney affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood group is currently striving to raise the issue again before the judiciary.

“Meanwhile, we say some Arab/Arab differences which revolve around the intervention of some Arab countries in the internal affairs of others by throwing their support behind the Muslim Brotherhood group in the relevant countries this support has created a state of turmoil in certain Arab countries such as Syria, Libya and Egypt.

“Such being the case, it would be better for the relevant countries to stop its interventions in the internal affairs of the Arab countries and instead hasten to the support the security and stability of Libya, Syria, Yemen and Egypt, because supporting the terrorist organizations will not eventually benefit the supporters, rather they will eventually work to destabilize the countries which supported them.

“As a matter of fact, the Arabs at the moment are in an imperative need to close their ranks and boost solidarity and surmount all differences among. I hope the sisterly country of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which has hastened to clear the atmospheres over Arab countries will lead all Arab countries to the table of mutual understanding and Arab/Arab solidarity in view of its importance in fighting the Islamic State (IS) or the socalled DAESH as well as all other terrorist organizations.”

“It seems the current cooperation between the government, led by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, and the MPs and those who express the street opinion is not like the cooperation that used to exist during the time of the 2013 Parliament,” Adel Al-Mutairi wrote for Al-Anba daily.

“Despite the high level of cooperation between His Highness the Prime Minister and the parliamentary majority of 2012, the National Assembly was annulled. Now, His Highness the Prime Minister and his government are cooperating with the MPs who are promoting national agenda and issues that concern people. However, we are all waiting for the decision of the Constitutional Court which may dismiss the parliament for the third time. Even if the National Assembly is not dismissed, there are some who are moving against the restoration of citizenship and completion of the deal declared by some MPs.

“This movement began with the public threats by the Group 80 until the hidden moves by owners of heavy political weight for personal reasons and out of fear of the adoption of a law that will allow litigation at the courts of cases relating to citizenship revocation.”

“The Sixth Ring Road, which has now been named after Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi (May Allah show mercy on him) is one of the most important and main roads of Kuwait that connects many vital areas of the country. Users of the road often wonder about the area between Sabah Al-Nasser and Jahra,” Abdulrahman AlAwwad wrote for Al-Sabah daily.

“The Sixth Ring Road suffered most from the problem of flying gravels after the heavy rains and floods. This road also lacks proper lane demarcation, making it difficult for the users to differentiate the lanes. It has so many potholes which represent the reason behind many of the traffic accidents that occur on this road.

“We do not criticize Ministry of Public Works but we urge it to pay attention to such dangers on these roads. We hope our voices will reach them and make them strive to take necessary action in this regard and tackle the problems faced on this vital and significant road.”

“Kuwait is rich in eternal humanitarian achievements of great people who devoted themselves to support mankind everywhere. They watered their wonderful projects with sincere love and hard work,” columnist Muhammad Al-Awadi wrote for Al-Rai daily.

“On the other hand, there are dark areas where racial voices are coming out, trying to distort the fair image of Kuwait. Those who live in the dark corner used to mix papers and hurl accusation of disloyalty at others. They also took expatriates as easy targets, directing their racial poisoned darts towards them. They treat others according to origins instead of the fact that they are their brothers in humanity.

“It is known that justice is above belongingness. This is the rule we call for strongly. Those racists practice racialism against people who are much better than them and who offered to their country what the racists can never offer. People even started to show their shameful situations and distorted view of patriotism.

“It might be strange that in the 21st century some people are still using the ugly way of thinking, although many of them are highly educated and hold PhDs. The explanation is too simple. The whole matter depends on the way they were raised during their early ages. They were raised as racists and so this description has become part of their own personalities which cannot be cured by obtaining high certificates. It is the community where they grew up that formed those bad manners.

“The series of mean racialism is continuing and it starts by despising expatriates until we reached the stage of miserable calls for imposing fees on them even without certain services in return. Unless those abnormal calls are confronted, I am afraid that one day we might cry on days we lived in peace and love.”

“The recent speech delivered by the President of the United States Donald Trump over Syrian regime’s chemical attack on innocent civilians in Khan Sheikoun could be due to the manner in which the regime trivializes humanity,” Dr Eissa Mohammad Al-Omairi wrote for Al-Seyassah daily.

“Regardless of whatever the attack represents, we do not only consider it to be the worst form of trivializing humanity; it is the height of cruelty, which any person with a sound mind could ever imagine. We want to state clearly that any person in this modern world who sees genocide as a normal phenomenon is not fit to be a part of society.

“The world leaders claim protecting humanity but keep on watching the genocide, which has been happening for almost six years without taking action or filing complaints. Therefore, whatever claims they are making about intervention is false, as it only serves personal interests. Well, we can only pray that Allah the Almighty will be merciful to the souls of innocent victims of cruel attacks.”

“In most cases, racial and sectarian discrimination drinks from the bucket of social crises. Miserable living becomes a normal phenomenon when this attitude develops into a way of life,” Mansour Mubarak wrote for Al-Jarida daily.

“It is awful to see our people not condemning discrimination and intolerance against foreigners. The situation now could be different if it had been our attitude to feel perplexed or made fun of whomever make discriminating statement, especially as it comes from one influential person in the society who incites palpable fear.

“The worst scenario is the stupid attempt and sick imagination that vulgarity can be painted with the color of an ideology bordering on identity, origin and commitment to frankness. The thing about the contemporary world is multiplicity and variety, which amounts to accepting the wide difference and variation among humans from different races. We have a duty to respect the distinction; thus, it is out of place for anybody to feign ignorance of the dissimilarities.”
