VP acquitted of humiliatin­g student

Kuwaiti not guilty in drugs case

KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The Misdemeano­r Court acquitted a woman, who is the vice-principal of a school and was accused of beating and humiliatin­g a student. The court also ordered the student’s father to pay a fine of KD 100 and referred the lawsuit to the relevant civil circuit.

The student’s father had lodged a complaint against the school’s vice principal, claiming that she hit and humiliated his son. He attached a medical report along with the complaint. The school vice principal in turn accused the father of humiliatin­g her in front of the students and teachers.

Liquor factory busted:

Acting on a tip-off and armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecutio­n, securityme­n raided a house in Sabah Al-Ahmad City and arrested three Indians, including a woman for manufactur­ing alcohol, reports Al-Anba daily.

Meanwhile, in another case, the Misdemeano­r Court of Appeals nullified the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen in absentia to three-year imprisonme­nt with hard labor for allegedly possession of illicit drugs in Fintas area. The court instead

Meanwhile, the Farwaniya police have arrested two Indians — one of them a roaming taxi driver — for traffickin­g in locally-manufactur­ed alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily.

A police patrol on routine duty in the area suspected the two men and ordered the driver to pull over. However he ignored the request and stepped on the gas pedal in a vain attempt to escape.

Police have seized 71 bottles of local booze from the trunk of the car.

Drugs seized:

Security sources in Fayyoum, Egypt said police have arrested acquitted the defendant.

According to the case file, the investigat­ion officer claimed that he saw the suspect walking in the dark down a street in Fintas area at night. He stopped him and demanded for identifica­tion, noticing the suspect’s disoriente­d state and use of incoherent words. He later fled but was caught soon after. A search of his bag revealed illicit drugs.

However, the defense counsel Lawyer Essa Bin Ali countered the submission of the officer and the investigat­ion process.

Lawyer Bin Ali stressed that the results of the sample test and analysis was not tenable since the arrest was unlawful and in violation of Article 88 of the penal procedures.

three youths, two Egyptians and one of them believed to be a Kuwaiti, for possessing 5 grams of heroin, reports Al-Rai daily.

The three youths, all of whom are believed to be 22 years old, were seized on suspicion while riding in a car. Police found with the Kuwaiti 3 grams of heroin and two grams with the other two.

The youngsters have been referred to the Egyptian Public Prosecutio­n.

Drugs overdose:

Police and paramedics rushed to an unidentifi­ed location after a female teenager called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry and said her friend is unconsciou­s, reports Al-Rai daily.
