Area 36 Toastmasters rise & shine at speech contests
Five clubs take part in annual competition TEF announces 8th Technological Innovations Conference & Exposition
KUWAIT CITY, April 12: On 31st March 2017, Area 36 Toastmasters got together at Australian College of Kuwait to hold their Annual speech contest. Area 36 comprises of five clubs, viz., Kuwait Challengers that meets every first and third Monday of the month in Kuwait City, Desert Pioneers that meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month in Salmiya, Al Bader Anchors – a corporate club meeting every second and fourth Wednesday of the month in Kuwait City, Durrar Toastmasters that meets every first and third Saturday in Riggae and ICS Expressions club that was recently chartered on 1st January 2017, meets every first and third Saturday in Jleeb.
Area 36 Toastmasters, led by Area Director Mrs Alka P Kumra, organized various skills development activities during the term 20162017. A corporate quiz – CrackMe in October 2016 saw many non-Toastmasters also come forward and participate actively. Throughout the year, the clubs organized special events like outdoor meetings, joint meetings, anniversary celebrations etc. The Annual speech contest on 31st March 2017, ably organized by the contest committee team headed by Toastmaster Srinivas Chelapathy, was a culmination of the Toastmaster activities for the current term of Area 36. The highlights of the event, besides the contests, were a Banner March by representatives of the five clubs, release of newsletter Area Tidings and an energetic fitness presentation by ‘Fitness with Urvi’. A corporate presentation was also made by Mr Deepak Bhatia, on behalf of the Gold Sponsor for the event, Al Mulla Insurance Brokerage Company. The Silver sponsor for the event was ACE Hardware.
Annual speech contests are held by Toastmasters as a way to showcase the best examples of development of communication skills. The contests for one category, viz., International Speech, culminate in a global competition held at different locations every year. For the current year, the International speech global competition will be held at Vancouver in August 2017. For all other categories, the speech contests will culminate at District level at District 20 Annual Convention to be held at Bahrain in May 2017.

The Tamilnadu Engineers Forum (TEF), announces the 8th Technological Innovations Conference & Exposition to be conducted on the 5th November 2017 – Kuwait, though a curtain raiser event organized on the 11th April 2017 at function organized in Radisson Blu.

He emphasized the need for professional development and competent work force in an environment when the oil and gas industry in Kuwait is expanding at a fast phase. He also said that the theme of the conference “Towards Sustainable Development” worth another appreciation as it has become the need of the hour, to hold this world together and make it a better place to live.

The Tamilnadu Engineers Forum in Kuwait is an association formed from the alumni of engineering colleges in the State of Tamilnadu, India and one of the most active professional forums in Kuwait.
The 8th Technological Innovations Conference & Exposition will be the largest of its kind in Kuwait, expected to be attended by about 400 delegates. Besides conference, the exhibition will feature demonstration of some of the largest and best-known product & Services.
It brings together practitioners across the globe representing a wide range of industries, organisation and career levels to participate in the program of workshops, presentations and discussions to share information in Technological Innovations in all engineering disciplines.
