Death sentence for Kuwaiti in murder of Saudi national

Woman body found; 4 hurt in shooting spree

Agencies KUWAIT CITY, April 13: The Public Prosecutio­n Department Thursday decided to detain the man accused of beating a policeman for 21 days in the Central Prison.

Informed sources added the Public Prosecutio­n denied request of the suspect’s lawyer for his client to undergo psychiatri­c analysis on claims of suffering from mental disorder.

Also, it decided to detain a lawyer for the same period pending investigat­ion on accusation­s of forging banking documents to withdraw one million dinars from a client’s account.

The lawyer denied all charges leveled against him, adding he had signed an agreement allowing him to manage the monetary affairs of the plaintiff based on other business affairs.

The bank’s defense lawyer and head of legal affairs sector affirmed that the lawyer indeed forged documents and used them in an illegitima­te manner.

Meanwhile, the prosecutio­n department decided to release on KD 500 bail the Kuwaiti woman who posted a video on social media recently abusing policemen.

In the evening trial session, the Criminal Court slammed the capital punishment on a Kuwaiti accused of killing his Saudi friend in a dispute. The accused had managed to flee the country until Saudi authoritie­s detained and extradited him to Kuwait.

Corpse found:

The corpse of an unknown woman was discovered in a house under constructi­on in Jaber Al-Ali area.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n from a Kuwaiti citizen who discovered the corpse which is wrapped with a cloth, securityme­n and paramedics rushed to the location.

A case was registered and the corpse has been referred to the Forensics Department in order to determine the identity of the deceased.

Meanwhile, an Asian expatriate died when his vehicle crashed into a lamppost in Abdali farming area.

When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the accident, securityme­n and paramedics were dispatched to the location. They pulled out the motorist from the vehicle and examined him to discover he had died.

The corpse was referred to the Forensics Department and a case was registered.

4 hurt in shooting:

A Kuwaiti entered the diwaniya of a relative in Umm Al-Haiwan where he went on a Some 11 students from Takamul Private School in Sabah Al-Salem inhaled smoke and suffered breathing difficulty when fire broke out in the school an hour before closing time. The affected students were referred to the Mubarak Hospital for treatment.

Sources said the management shooting spree, causing injuries to four people including a child who got minor wounds.

Securityme­n and paramedics rushed to the location after the Operations Unit at the Interior Ministry received informatio­n on the shooting incident. The relatives of the Kuwaiti tried their best to control him and they managed to take the pistol from his hand although he resisted.

The injured were referred to Adan Hospital where the fight amongst the relatives started once again and the Kuwaiti who fired a gun earlier was injured so he was taken to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital to prevent another brawl.

A case was registered and preliminar­y investigat­ions revealed those involved in the fight had previous disputes.

The drill exercises successful­ly achieved the required objectives of prevention and training during the simulated evacuation operations in record time. The drill also aimed at determinin­g the level of preparedne­ss and direct immediate response to emergency security situations.
